When HELL jumps on your back.

In Devotional, prayer, spiritual battle, Watch This on October 10, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Many times we don’t even know, think, BELIEVE that HELL is all around us, ready to take us out.

We are in a BATTLE. We are in a WAR for our hearts and the hearts of our families. Many times we are on fire and don’t even realize it. We are caught up in attack, caught up in a slippery slope, or just immersed in sin totally unaware or aware and we are OK with it.

That’s why we must stay connected TIGHT with our Savior. That’s why we need a team around us. That’s why we need accountability. That’s why we need a BAND OF BROTHERS or SISTERS. To have our backs, to point out sin, to steer us in the right direction so that when EVIL ATTACKS, God can do what HE PROMISES and use it FOR GOOD!

“11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” [Ephesians 6.11-13.niv]

”22 Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.” [Proverbs 15.22.nlt]

We still need some WARRIORS for this LIFE AND DEATH team. ARE YOU IN?

Serious Inquiries Only: This is LIFE OR DEATH.

In being the church, Devotional, prayer, urgent prayer needed on September 29, 2009 at 4:01 am

If there is 1 thing that our group needs as we seek to expand the Kingdom in a very tough place… it is this:

PRAYER.

Some of you just checked out. That’s old, it’s not fresh, it’s routine. For those of you who perked up…keep reading.

This will be right to the point. We need people, we need equipment, we need staff, we need money, we need __________…

But more than anything, we need HIS POWER. And I mean it. That is not a preacher’s phrase…we SEEK IT big time. Will you help us draw God’s ear and attention to this mission?

As a matter of fact, this is the first big act that I have done…our official fund raising hasn’t started yet, because it won’t start until this team starts. It’s a waste of time.

Here’s what we will expect of you:
1. That you will PRAY DAILY for us. Daily. Every day.
2. That you will KEEP REQUESTS CONFIDENTIAL. Please…this is a serious team.
3. That you will INTERCEDE like never before for our mission and battle for this mission we are on. We will need your contact info…so don’t forget to send that to me!

Here’s what you can expect from us:
1. Regular correspondence [at least 2 times a month] with REAL REQUESTS and PRAISES.
2. In-depth prayer concerns and praises, not just the superficial stuff [which is still important].
3. PRAYER for YOU from OUR TEAM. LOVE for your from OUR TEAM. We know you will be CLEARING THE WAY in BATTLE.

I take this stuff seriously. Jesus spent a ton of time PRAYING, when as the SON OF GOD, He could move HEAVEN and EARTH with 1 word. Just 1 word, but He modeled where the POWER can be FOUND.

We need this battle from YOU more than ANYTHING.

If you are SERIOUS about prayer and praying for MISSION WEST in Utah and beyond…please drop me your stats [name, address, phone, e-mail] to: chazzdaddy17@gmail.com

We really believe this passage is really real. Really. Real. Heaven and hell real. Life and death real. Eternity changers.

“For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” [ephesians 6.12 / asv]

The GIFT of BETRAYAL.

In Devotional on September 28, 2009 at 10:02 pm

Huge shout out to a friend Dan Nold for putting the icing on the cake to this post about “The Worst Thing That Happened to Jesus.”

He reminded me that not only can we identify with JESUS in HIS BETRAYAL, but we should also offer the same gift that HE gave the betrayers:

FORGIVENESS.

That’s the GIFT we received for HIS DEATH, and the GIFT we can give others when we suffer with HIM.

There’s your cake and you can eat it to.

freaking do it you wuss…

In church planting, Devotional on August 25, 2009 at 3:55 pm

Do you ever sway back and forth over something that God has asked you to do? I know I have been guilty of this, but when I am walking closely with Christ, it is different. Why?

This is why. [2 Corinthians/niv]

17When I planned this, did I do it lightly? Or do I make my plans in a worldly manner so that in the same breath I say, “Yes, yes” and “No, no”?

18But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” 19For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” 20For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

WHEN GOD ASKS YOU TO DO SOMETHING…FREAKING DO IT! Who or what are you afraid of? Never mind…go have another committee meeting.

This is not how I want to die.

2 Chronicles 21:20 // “Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He passed away, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.”

May we all live lives that will extend beyond ourselves. That is my prayer.

What is God speaking to you to rise up and make a difference about this week? You might have to re-orient your priorities. Stop talking about it…and do it!

this post is as good as Scripture if i might say so myself.

In Devotional on June 17, 2009 at 4:01 am

“For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like men condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men.

We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored! To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless.

We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;

when we are slandered, we answer kindly. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.” [1 cor. 4.9-13]

Do we live it?

Or do we “justify” our actions?

shrooms.

In Devotional, spiritual battle, Spiritual Growth on June 11, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Not those kind you wacks. I LOVE MUSHROOMS…one of most favorite foods.

I think that following Christ is more like a mushroom than anything else. Right?

Where do mushrooms grow best?

Yep…In the DARK and the DUNG.

We are more like mushrooms than anything else. The glory comes after the growth!

How bout it? A huge grilled portobello is awaiting us if we are patient enough. (with some balsamic vinaigrette of course…not to mention the big fat medium,-rare hardwood cooked steak that accompanies it :)

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers [and sisters], whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” [James 1.2-4]

many.

In Church Leadership, Devotional on May 2, 2009 at 7:07 pm

Many will laugh.

Many will not understand.

Many will not go.

Many will mock.

Many will not like your decisions.

Many will think they can do it better.

Many will say they are your friend, and then turn their back on you.

Many will hurt you at times.

Many will think you are crazy.

Many will think you are motivated by self-interest.

Many will think you are surrounded with tons of people.

Many won’t know that it doesn’t matter.

Many people can’t wait to climb to the “top.”

Many will find out that it’s lonely there too.

Many will want to kill your mission, your call, maybe your life.

MANY killed Jesus too, but what did that do? It freely gave redemption to MANY.

psalm 40.3
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

don’t miss this reminder…

In Devotional, Family on March 26, 2009 at 4:24 pm

I talked about this at the STICKS…and how I have messed up so often. A blogging buddy recently reminded me of the real path we are to pursue…DON’T MISS THIS REMINDER whatever your profession might be!!! We need to hear this over and over and over.

Our kids are only with us for a little while – and they they’re out flying on their own. I have five. My oldest is 22 and my youngest is 12.

During my overcommitted period — my oldest was 15 and my youngest was 5. I didn’t give them all I should have given them at that time. Oh, how I wish I would have had more evenings at home and less in meetings at the church (or out speaking.) I can’t take it back now. This is very hard for me to write – but my oldest son recently told me that he really missed me a lot during his late teens. It left a hole for him. I tried my best to be a good dad – but was gone away from home too much.

Thank the Lord, It didn’t ruin him or anything – He’s a great young man – loves the Lord and is a great husband to his wife – but I had no idea how much my absence wounded him.

I praise God that Romans 8:28 is still in e book. He can make ALL things new and restore they years the locusts have eaten. Now, as a middle aged soldier for Jesus, I’m still working hard to keep my schedule sane.

May we travel this life with grace and HIS wisdom.

how about you?

In church planting journey, Devotional on March 11, 2009 at 11:40 am

The last 3 months has been the hardest, busiest, toughest season of ministry in my life. Take my hardest season ever and DOUBLE IT. That’s where I sit right now.

This week…to Unleash [it was already paid for], home late Friday, off Sunday to the STICKS, then home late Thursday. Thursday night leave for my new stint [staying with my littlest sis and fam that night] at this CHURCH with this AMAZING PASTOR and his crew of rebels. We will arrive there late Friday.

Between selling houses, running conferences, the stress of moving, preparing teachings, planning trips out west, launch team development and raising funds…wow.

How about you? Are you heading into a crazy season or coming out of one. I can tell you that I am finally coming out of one. This is a marathon and not a sprint. A sprint will not last. I am looking forward to focusing on fewer tasks when we arrive in the land of SWEET HOME ALABAMA.

Run the race…but remember the goal. [God, wife, kids, ministry]. Sometimes I get it all wrong. How about you?
