As we continue the church planting manifesto of change…it’s that time to jump into the “12″. This was Jesus Model: CROWD —> 12 —> 3 —> 1
Both/And remember? So, let’s introduce the level of the “12″
We were taught: “Life change happens best in small groups”? Do you agree?
Groups of 8-12 centered around the mission and ministry of the church. It sound[ed] good at the time and we bought into it.
In my humble opinion, life-change does NOT happen best in small groups. It happens, but I don’t believe “best.” This is why we need to stop “doing” small groups the way that we have always administered and operated them and start a new paradigm with how Jesus used this “12″ level.
Let’s talk this week about where “life change happens best” and where we should be putting our emphasis when planting churches. We will be tearing apart this “12″ idea and see where it goes.
Kick it off…What are your thoughts?
Small groups are good and we should have them. Life change happens there. But the best life change happens when we shift our worldview by serving others.. I think that the best life change happens from serving..
I would say that life change happens best in community. I know that can be and is a pretty broad statement, but let me explain. Small groups or the 12… is part of community. In small groups discipleship happens, accountability happens, being loved by others even when we mess up happens.
Serving… is also part of community. We serve the needs of others together… when serving the needs of others we get to extend God’s love & grace in tangible ways.
Through relationships in our community, we get to proclaim & demonstrate the Kingdom of God to those that need Jesus the most.
It is in community, that we gather corporately to worship our God.
I have seen all these aspects of community be used to transform people’s lives.
