5 seconds could have changed our lives forever.

In Devotional, New Hope News, the sticks conference on September 15, 2008 at 1:42 pm

That’s right. We were 5 seconds or less from being demolished in our van last night on St. Rt. 83 heading north coming home from our vacation in the Outer Banks.

There is a whole sermon here, but you will see it: I asked my bride to watch the road way ahead with me to see when wind bursts were coming so we could stop or drive fast through them. So glad we were looking ahead because we both spotted a massive tree falling right into the roadway ahead of us. I was able to stop maybe 10 yards from it’s outstretched limbs.

I was able to clear the road and drive in the ditch area around it barely with one of my girls crying badly she was so shook up. Then of course 15 seconds later when we were back up to speed, we were crushed on the top of our van by a large falling limb. So glad for the luggage rack which sustained the blow as far as I could see in the dark last night. Might be in for treat when I look today.

We were looking ahead. Not only that, but we were the only ones in the area with power because I bought a generator a few years back for a time such as this. That is just my nature. Some call me a freak for it, I call it looking ahead!

And to think that 5 seconds could have changed our family forever. Wow. THANK GOD FOR HIS PROVISION! (and thank Him when it doesn’t go our way as well!)

Speaking of the STICKS that were falling, go see THIS POST about our conference THE STICKS coming soon. We got some big blog pub from Tony Morgan about the history of New Hope and the Sticks.

By the way, if you are in the area and need anything, we would love to serve you whether you attend New Hope or not. Shoot me an e-mail (charles@newhopewired.tv) and we will do our best to help you as soon as possible.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…” (phil. 3.13.nlt)
